There, now that’s better

by Cat on July 31, 2006

I took a look at my blogroll this morning and realized that it is giving new dimension to the phrase “the long tail.”

So, in a major burst of energetic procrastination, (what’s wrong with postponing that important trip to the U.S. embassy a few more hours?) I’ve trimmed the lists to remove blogs that are no longer updated regularly, or ones outside of Korea with a primarily political focus.

This blog is mostly meant for expats learning to adjust to life in a different culture. Most of us, unless we’ve lived for years in our “new” country, don’t understand the complexities of different political situations. If I removed your blog, it doesn’t mean I didn’t find it interesting or worthwhile. (Is this the blogroll version of ‘it’s not you, it’s me’?) It just means that I need to conserve some real estate in the sidebar.

Obviously, the blogs in question probably won’t miss the whopping two or three hits per year they may have gotten from Seoullife.net, but just in case any one wonders, I know it’s rude to leave the party without saying goodbye.

A few, final fond words for:

Kimchi and Me—Wyatt, you were one of the first, and best, blogs about Korea that I read when I found out I was moving here. I get here, only to find that you are leaving. I only lurked on your site, so I know it wasn’t something I said. Go forth and prosper.

Koval’s in China —I loved your driving test, but no updates since May? I hope that you are OK. Maybe it was an extended trip to Bali?

ExpatFacts—We hardly knew ye . . .

If only my real house were as tidy as the virtual one.

My favorite wiki article, so far

A little worse for the wear, but we had a good time overall in Taiwan. I put some pictures up on Flickr. I’ll add more details when I can. This is from the public garden near the National Palace Museum.

So glad I’m not still ‘out there’

Jodi over at The Asia Pages has a hilarious post up about online dating, Korea style.

Oh, the Korean guys living in Korea are funny, too. It seems they actually read my profile because they usually write in English and one guy even applied American female stereotypes to his email by titling it: DO YOU LIKE SEX???

Kudos for honesty and for cutting straight to the point.

Some things are the same wherever you are.
