Today is BlogDay 2006, a day when bloggers all over the world link to five others that they think more people should read. Ideally, these are blogs that are “different from their own culture, point of view and attitude.”
Here, in no particular order, are my nominees and the reasons I love them:
Redneck Mother - “Raising children, lettuce, and hell in Texas”. Her tagline says it all.
India Ink - Basia Kruszewska’s beautifully detailed descriptions of life in Chennai and her travels in her adopted country. Everything from a climb into the Himalayas to a wonderful photo essay on the use of scooters as family transportation.
Head Nurse - In my former life, I was a medical journalist and did hours of “research” reading med and nursing blogs. Jo’s is one of the best–not only about medicine, but also about food, dating, and life. She proves nurses are people, too, without being sappy or overly sentimental.
Twice the Rice - Ji-in writes about issues related to international and transracial adoption with heart and flair. She will make you think.
Words on Water - Just discovered this blog by Priya Ramachandran (aka DesiGal) via Blogher Asia, where she is a contributing editor. I just love her writing, particularly when she’s dissing rude guys at the train station. Word.
So, who are you reading lately? Tag up with BlogDay2006 or leave yours in the comments.

It’s strange how fast you get used to sharing the sidewalk with motorcycles and cars here.
On the up side, I realized this morning that I must be more adjusted to life in Seoul than I thought. While walking back from the YMCA I didn’t even give a second glance to the driver of the tan station wagon taking a shortcut to the convenience store halfway up the block. I just stepped aside to let him pass. The light at that intersection does take a long time to change.
Still, I miss being able to window shop without keeping one eye out for delivery guys who are running late.

I am getting frustrated with Technorati. Actually, I am long past frustrated and well into fed up territory.
My site is set up to automatically ping them when I update, yet they consistently don’t include me in the index. For the past week, it has indicated that Bukhan Mountain Breakdown was last updated ‘91 days ago.’
