From the Chosun Ilbo: “The Uri Party leadership on Sunday called an emergency meeting to discuss its future after yet another by-election defeat.”

According to CNN, the U.S. plans to deploy advanced capability surface-to-air Patriot missiles near Yokota Air Base in Japan to counter the threat from North Korea.
The same story also contains this interesting tidbit of information:
A retired U.S. diplomat, meanwhile, said North Korea was likely to demand the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from South Korea in return for dismantling its nuclear capability.
I don’t see that happening, but I think it will be interesting to see whether it influences public opinion here on the necessity of the United States negotiating with Pyongyang.
Update: Speaking of public opinion, this is currently the most viewed story on the Chosun Ilbo’s English website.
