Well, the kimchi finally failed me. I’ve enjoyed almost seven months here unbeset by colds or allergies—nothing but some pretty serious mosquito bites. This I do attribute, at least in part, to regular ingestion of the spicy, vitamin C laden cure-all/side dish. But this week, the germs, weather and crowded conditions finally got the better of me.
David and I are both holed up in the apartment, laid low with head colds. I don’t anticipate writing anything coherent in the near future, so let me use this post to point you toward more interesting scenes of Korean expat life:
-
ZenKimchi’s kimjang adventure. (Kids, don’t try this at home.)
GDog’s Korean winter survival guide. (Hint: It involves a Face mask, Costco rotisserie chicken, and SubMeal).
Coulda Woulda Shoulda translates the Korean drivers manual.
And Wyatt writes about his experience with a Seoul driver who was definitely following all the rules.
Stay tuned . . . regularly scheduled blog updates will resume shortly.

Poor guys! I’m so sorry you’re laid low by winter colds there! Like you, David rarely ever was ill, but if he ever did succumb, he would be truly miserable. Sending bunches of positive vibes your way for a quick recovery. The suggestion for rotisserie chicken, a face mask, and a Subway is a truly enjoyable way to ward off winter ills on this side of the Pacific, for sure. Lots of soaks in hot baths, steaming sinuses, mounds of oranges and grapefruits, hot teas, feline snuggles, and Alka-Seltzer Cold-Plus for you two!
