[Update: I had to remove the embedded video because it was breaking the theme. You can still watch the video on the original site by following the link.]

David spent half a day home with Susana yesterday so I could go do an interview for a magazine article I’m writing. I felt bad because he hardly ever gets to spend lots of time with her and though she’s usually in a great mood in the mornings, this morning was the exception. So I was hesitant to leave him flying solo.

I came home from my interview almost expecting to hear Susana in the hallway. (It wouldn’t be the first time.) I didn’t. When I entered the apartment foyer, silence was all I heard. Heading into the living room, I saw this:

David reading to Susana

First Korean Lesson from Cathi Harris on Vimeo.

Maybe I’m just not challenging her enough. :-)

Ack ! My pronunciation is terrible !

I think she’s more amused by my butchering of Korean than the actual story.

Well, I put you on the spot with the video camera. Otherwise, you guys were doing fine. Mostly I think she likes the pictures. :-)

Don’t worry David, we don’t know if the Korean is correct or not. But it does tell me you are a loving dad.
Thanks for the videos, you two! Much better than the still pics.

So is anybody gonna tell me how the story ends?!? ;)

Happy Holidays to the Harris family abroad. We miss you.

Wow, Susana looks completely engrossed! Better start investing in some bookshelves…
David, you sound pretty good to me! I understood what you were saying. Of course, I’ve read that book before… ;-)

Your Little Brother,

The family in the story seems to suffer from severe ADD. The mother asks her daughter for some eggs from the fridge, who then gets sidetracked by some delicious ice cream in the freezer. They then get sidetracked again by the rain outside, for which it is said one should use an umbrella.

I can only assume the eggs, ice cream, and umbrella get discarded on the floor while the food burns on the stove after they sidetracked again talking about the doorknob at the front door.

Your Little Brother,

We miss you guys a lot, too. We’re looking forward to Susana’s first trip back to the states next year !

Jennifer,

Thanks for the positive words of encouragement. How many times did you read that story, anyways ? Susana is far from tired of listening to it and looking at the pictures.

MigukNamja, you’re in for a LOT of reading. Which is good… if you’re anything like me, it took me a good 50 readings to figure out what the heck was going on. Master that set of books and I’ll lend you guys the 꾸러기곰돌이 books.

Sounds like a Korean version of “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”. I’ll send it so you can compare. Cute story!
