Speechless

by Cat on November 7, 2007

Apparently, you can now have dancing girls at your wedding.
The link is to Mong Dori but the video is apparently from Naver and its getting quite a bit of attention, at least from the expat community.
Some people wonder what the bride is thinking. To me, she looks pretty into it (Or, she’s a great actress. Check out the part where he lip syncs to her at the end.)
Folks back home: Girls hired to dance to recorded music under a balloon arch are ubiquitous here at store openings or special promotions.
I wonder what’s going on in the minds of the parents.

Better late than never

by Cat on August 6, 2006

So tomorrow is the sixth of August and David and I will have been married three! whole! months! And, yes, I still I have yet to send prints or proofs of the wedding pictures to my mother.

As my brother wrote in a previous comment, she is starting to lose patience. If you also have a mother from Tennessee, you know this is a serious matter. I think the words, “flight” “there soon” and “snatch you bald-headed” may have been used. And, that’s just to start.

So, OK. The pictures are in the mail, Mom. (And, I am still working on the book from here, MomB. You will have your pictures by Christmas, as promised.)

In the meantime, a sample to tide you over can be found here. You can find all of our online wedding photos by doing a search on the tag ‘davecatwedding.’

We two are one

Name change, originally uploaded by cathilee.

The lady at the Social Security office seemed surprised, then pleased, as if we’d just made a boring day a lot more interesting.

She took David’s form, frowned slightly and started typing . . . then she paused, looked back at our papers, looked up, and said,
“Oh, you guys are married.”

We nod.

“And, you want to change your name so it will be the same?”

Double nod. She smiles.
“Oh, that’s nice. We get people changing their names for lots of different reasons, it’s usually not just for this. And, it’s usually not [she gestures toward David] So I wanted to ask . . ”

The whole thing took five minutes.

What a day

by Cat on May 9, 2006

What a day….what a day…as one singer famously said.

What a couple of days, actually. We are just finishing the first day of our honeymoon in Barcelona, and I haven’t even begun to process all the thoughts, and emotions and gratitude that we feel for the past weekend.

Our family and friends got together and made this day the most specacular and memorable of our lives. I will have to write much more about that later. But, I wanted to do a quick update to let everyone know we are here, safe and sound, and thinking about all of this. Thank you so much.

(Especially to Rebecca for our first wedding photos!). We will see all of you soon.
